Golf Course Horticulturist Internship

Marine Drive Golf Club is located in beautiful Vancouver British Columbia.  Marine Drive is one of the top 5 premier golf facilities in the area.  Established in 1922 by A.V. Macan, this 18 hole private golf club offers only the best in golf course grooming and tournament conditions on a daily basis.  With recent renovations of our bunkers, green surrounds, aprons and forward tees, we continue to offer our membership the conditions too which they have come to enjoy for years to come.

We are currently looking for a qualified, hard working, self motivated and passionate individual to join our team as Horticulturist Intern who is currently enrolled or completed with a diploma or degree in this field of work. This Internship will allow an individual the platform to gain and sharpen their skills as a future Horticulturist responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of all flower and shrub beds on the property to the highest of standards.  The Horticulturist reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.


  • A thorough knowledge of the landscape plant materials, including annuals, perennials, shrubs, bulbs, and native plants. Understanding plant material including both herbaceous and woody plants
  • A thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques and the use of materials, tools and equipment of the horticultural trade
  • Experience in the application of fertilizers
  • Ability to operate light and heavy equipment
  • A diploma/degree or currently enrolled in a recognized Horticulture program would be an asset
  • The understanding that this is a labour intense, physically demanding position where heavy lifting will be required
  • Early morning riser
  • Punctual
  • Drivers license an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of the game of golf an asset
  • Have a positive attitude and a team player


  • Day to day maintenance of annual/perennial beds, hanging baskets, and shrubs; includes watering, fertilization, deadheading, weeding, and pruning
  • Planting of plant material around the clubhouse and recreational property as well as care and maintenance of large tree species
  • Willingness to assist with normal golf course maintenance duties when needed
  • Help produce and conform to a yearly operating budget
  • Positive attitude towards your fellow Turf Care Team and the interactions with our members
  • Clean and put away all equipment and tools daily
